Our recent project at Dewars Hotel in Malton, North Yorkshire, involved crafting an aged copper bar top not only serves as a functional surface but also as a statement piece that enhances the hotel’s luxurious ambiance.
The bar top is made from high-quality copper, which we aged by hand to achieve a unique and bespoke finish. The reflective quality of the aged copper beautifully captures the soft lighting in the bar area, creating a subtle glow that highlights the clean lines and sophisticated design of the bar area.
The warm tones of the aged copper complement the teal blue base of the bar, creating a striking contrast that enhances the modern yet inviting atmosphere of the hotel’s restaurant and bar area. The vertical fluted panels on the bar front also add texture and depth, making the bar a real focal point in the room.
The harmonious blend of materials and colours—copper, teal blue, and earthy geometric patterned floor tiles—ties the space together, creating a cohesive and luxurious environment. The dark, textured walls and dark green upholstered seating further accentuate the copper bar top, adding to the contemporary feel of the hotel’s interior.
We think this project is a fine example of how a copper bar top, table top, or worktop can really transform a space!
